Maximize your winter break
This winter, a flurry of opportunities to advance your academic career await.
The experimental Winter Session is a suite of engaging opportunities between the end of the Fall 2020 semester in mid-November and the beginning of the Spring 2021 semester on February 3, 2021.
The goal of the Winter Session is to capitalize on the length of this year’s winter break by providing meaningful engagement opportunities for Notre Dame students to nurture the formation of mind, body, and spirit.
Offerings include career development and professional growth workshops and projects, career counseling, skill building sessions, mentorships, virtual experiential co-curricular community service, research experiences, and a modest number of short online courses taught by Notre Dame faculty.

“I'm going to study for the LSAT and work with Dr. Nancy Michael on neuroscience research. I've previously participated in programs hosted by the Center for Social Concerns, and recommend other students consider the Winter Virtual Service Corps opportunity this winter break.
Study what you love. Take courses that inspire you to think more deeply and to explore the unexpected. This year, we’re giving you even more opportunities to follow your passions. Registration for Winter Session classes will take place during students’ normal registration time in December.
Supervised Research Experiences
Nov. 21-Dec. 18 and Jan. 6-30
Develop skills and confidence, create networks, build your resume, and prepare for graduate school. Select academic departments will offer a limited number of virtual and in-person research experiences focused on special topics and research assistantships.
Career and Professional Development
Dec. 7-18 and Jan. 11-22
Opportunities will be offered for students to connect with employers and organizations, build relationships with mentors, participate in workshops and skill building sessions, and receive one-on-one career counseling.
Dec. 1-18 and Jan. 6-22
Collaborate and volunteer with community organizations across South Bend and the nation in remote service, research, and faith activities through the Center for Social Concerns, Robinson Community Learning Center, and other valued partners.
The calendar below offers a birds-eye view of peak activity related to the various offerings, however, there is nothing status quo when it comes to how you'll experience the Winter Session.
